ABSA Certified 4th Class Power Engineering Graduate Eric LarsonFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

High Prairie, Alberta – E.W. Pratt and High Prairie School Division are pleased to announce Eric Larson as the first graduate from that school in the 4th Class Power Engineering Program with his ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association) Certification. Eric’s father is also a Power Engineer at Plain’s Midstream east of High Prairie. The cost to take the program outside of high school can range between $5,000 to $6,000. While in school, Eric was able to take this program at no cost. Doing so, he earned his credits and is now recently graduated with his ticket and is actively seeking employment. Power engineers supervise, operate, and maintain machinery and boilers that provide steam, power, heat, refrigeration and other utility services to industrial and commercial facilities. Eric also received a Shell Canada bursary to pay for his student placement at the Shell Canada Power Engineering and Technology Centre. The placement allowed him to complete his necessary steam hours needed for certification. The cost without a bursary would have been an additional $5,500.

If you would like to learn more about the dual credit opportunities available to you or your children, contact your school’s Career Coach. Congratulations to Eric for his excellent achievement. Your hard work and determination have certainly paid off. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

UPDATE: It was brought to our attention that former E.W. Pratt student Matt Marquardt received his ASBA certification for his 4th Class Power Engineering Program. We would like to apologize for this error and additionally salute Matt. Congratulations!
