– The new school in Joussard held its Grand Opening on Friday, September 16th to an audience of local dignitaries, government officials, and neighbouring school jurisdiction trustees and superintendents. The ceremony included speeches from Board Chair Tammy Henkel and Municipal Affairs Minister Danielle Larivee. Minister Larivee also presented the school with a bronze plaque to commemorate its official opening.
The event’s Master of Ceremonies, Grade 6 student Faith Fortier, introduced speakers and skillfully executed her duties as she addressed the audience. Students from the Grade 6 class gave a musical performance to the crowd; a traditional dance was also performed. Students gave tours of their new school to the attendees leaving no classroom overlooked.
The school in Joussard is the first new school in the Division since Prairie River Junior High School in 1982. High Prairie School Division would like to extended its sincere appreciation to everyone who made this new facility a reality. Thank you for supporting quality public education.
