The High School Child Care Career Scholarship provides first-year tuition support for students who wish to pursue post-secondary training in child care upon completing the Early Learning and Child Care courses (CCS3110-3150) or the provincial Child Care Orientation Course (on-line or self-study) while in high school or for students that have successfully completed Dual Credit Studies in Lakeland College’s PLAY and Exploring Exceptionalities

1. A $1000 Bursary will be granted to the successful applicant enrolled in a minimum 2 year Business related program in any recognized Alberta post secondary educational facility
2. Applicant must have resided in their final year of grade 12 in the Big Lakes County, including the towns and communities within the Big Lakes County.
3. Applicant must have graduated with in the last 2 years.
4. Applicant must be able to prove a minimum of 10 hours of local volunteering with in the last 6 months.
5. Applicant must have an average of 65% graduating grade in 5 core subjects.
6. Application must be made in writing and describe clearly the course contents and volunteer work. Applications must also outline future business plans.
7. Deadline for applications is to be September 15, of each year
8. Successful Applicant may not apply for this bursary in subsequent years
9. Bursary will be awarded in 2 portions the 1st $500 will be awarded in October. The 2nd $500 will be awarded at the beginning of February, after the applicant can prove he/she is still enrolled in the approved business related programs.
