High Prairie, Alberta – High Prairie School Division is thrilled to hear that the Government of Alberta is investing $21.6 million over the next four years for Northern Lakes College to design and consolidate their High Prairie campuses. The new facility will accommodate 250 students, address future growth plans, meet employment demands in the region, and increase campus energy efficiency. This facility will greatly enhance the post-secondary learning opportunities for all students, especially those in dual credit programs. It will allow NLC to “...enhance access to a wider variety of programs and services in High Prairie.” stated Ann Everatt, President of Northern Lakes College.

In a release from the Government of Alberta, Minister of Advanced Education Marlin Schmidt stated “Investing in modern and efficient infrastructure is vital to the long-term success of Alberta’s students and our province. Our government supports Northern Lakes College’s efforts to plan for the future and ensure students continue to have access to modern learning spaces and resources for years to come.”

High Prairie School Division will continue to work with the Government of Alberta towards the replacement of E.W. Pratt, our number one capital project, in the hopes that it can be included in the design of this new post-secondary facility. E.W. Pratt and Prairie View Outreach will remain as the division’s secondary schools in the area. To everyone at Northern Lakes College, congratulations on the announcement of your new facility!
