Emergency Preparedness

We have been closely monitoring the novel coronavirus situation and would like to reassure you that our division has emergency preparedness plans in place. The risk to Albertans is considered to still be low. There are many common respiratory viruses circulating in Alberta and globally, such as influenza. This will be the most likely cause of a respiratory infection. To help protect against all respiratory illnesses, including the flu and coronavirus, you should:

  • use good hygiene practices, such as frequent handwashing
  • stay at home and away from others if you are feeling ill
  • consult the Travel Health Notice for China before leaving the country if travelling abroad
  • contact your primary health provider or 811 Health Link if you have questions or concerns about your health

Schools are a vital service to the community. As such, we will endeavour to keep all schools open and continue operating with a normal schedule, including all extra-curricular activities. If there is a change in the situation, notifications will be posted on our social media and website. We will also send information home to parents and guardians through our messaging system. Thank you for your continued support!
