Regular Board Meeting Summary - June 2021The High Prairie School Division Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, for their regularly scheduled meeting via Zoom. Trustees approved the consent agenda and moved into the remainder of the agenda items.

Trustee Lorrie Shelp discussed promotional materials received from the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta (PSBAA). PSBAA sent the materials to their member boards.

The Board approved an amendment to Administrative Procedure 501 - Use of School Facilities. The amendment is to accommodate recommendations from the Division's insurer to prohibit the use of alcohol, illegal substances, vaping, and tobacco on school premises at all times.

Trustees approved a capital purchase for a powered gate as part of a new fence installation at the HPSD Learning Support Centre. The gate was not included in the original capital request for the fencing around the Learning Support Centre to provide increased security and address insurance requirements.

The Board approved the Finance Report.

Trustees received a delegation from Director of Transportation Harry Davis. Mr. Davis gave a report on the current operations, fleet status, inventory, and staffing. Mr. Davis also brought forward the cooperative busing that HPSD has with other school authorities and the possibility to extend that service in the future.

The Board also received a delegation from Director of Facilities Lionel Gagnon. Mr. Gagnon reported on the projects undertaken in the 2020-21 school year, additional workload and expenses due to insurer requirements, upcoming school projects, and projects for the 2021-22 school year.
